What is your motivation for writing?

what's your motivation

Sit down and evaluate the reasons you want to write. Go steps beyond because it makes me feel better or wanting to see your name in print.

Do you wake every morning with writing on your mind? Is this something that is on your bucket list? Do you have something special to say?

Shifting Perspectives

writing reflections shift perspectives

Recall a recent disagreement you’ve had with someone. It could be personal or professional. Give a detailed account of the exchange. Describe the basis of the disagreement, recount dialogue, detail your feelings about the exchange.

Now state your argument. Offer all of the reasons you feel your argument is correct. Next, shift positions and state the other person’s argument. List all of the possible reasons the other person would use to support their argument. Quite simply, put yourself in their shoes.

Does your opinion of the argument shift slightly or remain the same?
